Brandon Gaskew

President

Brandon Gaskew is a second year law student originally from Chicago, IL. Brandon received his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He majored in Political Science and minored in Criminology Law & Justice. He wants to pursue a career in International Diplomacy.

Stefanie Andrews

Vice President

Stefanie Andrews is a second year law student from Thousand Oaks, Ca. She received her B.S. in Sports Management from Howard University and she received a M.S. in Sports Business from New York University. Outside of BLSA she is a junior staffer for the American University Business Law Review. Her legal interests are in intellectual property, sports law, media law, antitrust and civil rights.

Justin Berger

Secretary

Justin is a second year student. He calls Atlanta home and Elon University his alma mater.  Justin is interested in IP law.  He believes that the people that are crazy enough to believe they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Eli Daniels

Historian

Eli is from Dallas, Texas. He attended the University of Houston where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a minor in International Business. He is a second year student interested in business law. Apart from his role in BLSA, he is also a junior staffer with The American University Business Law Review, Barbri Student Representative, and Deans Fellow. 

Brishailah Brown

Chief of Staff

Brishailah is originally from Ocala, FL, but relocated to Orlando, FL to attend the University of Central Florida, where she majored in Political Science. She is currently a 2L interested in any area of the law where international trade intersects with human rights. 

Martine Wilson

Director of Public Relations

Martine is a second year student originally from Cleveland, Oh.  Her alma mater is Fordham University where she majored in anthropology with a pre-med concentration.  Martine is particularly interested in intellectual property law as well as media and entertainment.  She is a junior staffer for the International Law Review and serves as technical director for Law Revue, WCL's premier theater group.

Joshua Morris

Director of Social Activities

Joshua Morris is from Chicago, IL.  Josh graduated from Colgate University in 2012 where he majored in Political Science and minored in Writing and Rhetoric. Following undergrad, he lived in New York City for three years working at the Columbia University Law School Law Clinics as a paralegal.  Josh’s legal interests include civil litigation, cyber security law, trade secret law, sports law, and employment law.

Felise Ortiz

Director of National and Regional Outreach

Felise Ortiz is a second-year law student at American University Washington College of Law, and serves as BLSA's Director of National and Regional Outreach. She is also serves as the Regional Historian for MABLSA. Felise is pursuing a Juris Doctorate as well as a Masters in Public Administration. Prior to attending law school, she completed a year of service with AmeriCorps – Norte Dame Mission Volunteers in Washington, D.C. where ran a free tutoring service for minority students from the D.C. area. She looks forward to continuing her service to this community using her newly acquired legal skills. Felise attributes much of her first year success to the connections made through her involvement with WCL’s BLSA chapter. She appreciates the opportunity to continue her involvement in the organization by serving as the Director of National and Regional Outreach this school year. 

Nana Amoo

Director of BLSA Mentorship Program

Nana is from Accra, Ghana and is a second year student. She graduated from Boston College in 2014 with a B.A. in Economics, where she minored in African Studies with a concentration on African Political Systems and Development.  Outside of the Black Law Students Association, she is a junior staffer on the American University Business Law Review and a Dean’s Fellow for the Legal Rhetoric Program. Nana's legal interest is international business law. However, her dream is to see Africa rise to the forefront of socio-economic development and become a global business powerhouse, so her legal interest may shift as she finds new ways to turn this dream into a reality. 

Imani Cherry

Director of Community Service Initiatives

Imani is a second year student who grew up between Hagerstown, Maryland and Southampton, Bermuda.  She attended Oakwood University for her undergraduate education.  He area of interest is International development and finance.  

Haddy Gassama

Director of Social Advocacy and Community Affairs:

Haddy Gassama is a second year student originally from The Gambia. Her legal  areas of interest are International Law specifically with regard to the rights of women and children.  The Black Law Student Association was one of the first organizations that she was introduced to during 1L orientation programming at WCL. She has been an active member ever since. It is her goal to help make BLSA an open forum that all student can use to peruse and fulfill the common goal of discussing and implementing meaningful change with respect to social justice.

Chandler Emmons

Director of Faculty Relations and Alumni Affairs

Chandler Emmons was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Chandler attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelors in Political Science and Sociology. Chandler is interested in International Law and is a Junior Staff Member for the International Law Review.

Airial Smith

1L Representative

Airial Smith is from Waldorf, MD.  She attended the University of Maryland College Park where received her B.S. in Family Science with a pre-law track. Prior to coming to WCL, She worked as a paralegal in a big firm in D.C. She is interested in International Human Rights and Criminal law.

Morgan Dowell

1L Representative

Morgan Dowell is a first-year law student at American University Washington College of Law. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Ms. Dowell began her professional career at the illustrious Hampton University. Currently, Ms. Dowell is interested in practicing Constitutional Law upon graduating from the Washington College of Law. One of Ms. Dowell’s favorite quotes is by Shirley Chisolm that states, “At present, our country needs women's idealism and determination, perhaps more in politics than anywhere else.”

Jessica Gandy

1L Representative

Jessica Gandy is a first year law student from Washington, D.C. She attended University of Alabama, where she majored in Journalism and Political Science with a minor in French. Her legal interest are in International Trade and Intellectual Property. In her free time she enjoys traveling and also has a background in fashion.
